Mission Statement

This is to introduce you to Community Helping Adolescents Needing Guidance Education & Support organization (herein referred to as C.H.A.N.G.E.S.). C.H.A.N.G.E.S. is a non-profit organization established in 2010 for the purpose of offering dynamic educational, athletic, social and public safety alternatives for underserved communities in urban areas.

Description

Based in Los Angeles, CA, the C.H.A.N.G.E.S. organization serves a portion of the south Los Angeles community of Westmont and the northeast portion of the city of Hawthorne that borderlines West Athens. C.H.A.N.G.E.S is currently seeking committed volunteers to assist in our program activities that include tutoring, youth mentoring and leadership development workshops, administrative work, dance, gang intervention/prevention services, job readiness training, and school safe passages programs at local area schools. We also facilitate community activities and safe parks programs at Holly Park in Hawthorne, CA. In addition we host community events such as food give-a-ways during the holiday season.

The C.H.A.N.G.E.S. organization collaborates with local area schools, clergy, businesses, the Westmont-West Athens Task Force, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Los Angeles Police Department, and other community based organizations in efforts to continue our work in maintaining safe communities. .

C.H.A.N.G.E.S. is the only organization within the area with a youth community center that provides these services. In addition our staff and volunteers are comprised of committed people who grew up in the neighborhood and/or currently reside or attend school in the community. The C.H.A.N.G.E.S. organization was born out of the need to be socially responsible by giving back to the young people of the community. We are asking for your volunteer center to support our efforts and refer volunteers to our program. Together we can positively impact our youth and their community

If you have any questions please contact our office at (323)779-6519. We are excited about the opportunity to work with you and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Executive director
