Mission Statement

DCSCO's focus is to ensure the highest quality of education at the Don Callejon School by raising money to help fund various portions of the arts, science and language programs that have been slashed due to budget cuts. DCSCO has organized a series of after school activities to help compensate for these cutbacks and enhance the classroom experience. With a large population of the middle school kids at Don Callejon School coming from low income families, there is a critical need to make these programs affordable through lower fees and money to support individual scholarships. The lack of transportation is another barrier to successful after-school activities which DCSCO is working to address by raising funds to support a 'late bus' which is convenient and affordable for working families.

Description

In August of 2006, The Santa Clara Unified School District opened its first new public school in 40 years -- The Don Callejon k-8 School.

In order to provide community support to the Don Callejon School, DCSCO was established in 2005 as a non-profit, all-volunteer public-benefit corporation. The Organization works to bring closer relations between the home and the school so that parents, teachers, students, and other community members may collaborate in the education of the children. DCSCO advocates for the community to the school and District through active communication and participation to ensure that the needs of children are recognized and supported. DCSCO also provides fundraising efforts for the benefit of the children and the school.
