Mission Statement
Founded on September 25, 2003 by representatives of San Diego's Scottish fraternal organizations, San Diego Tartan Day Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization incorporated in the State of California with the following mission:
- to encourage fellowship among all San Diegans of Scots ancestry or inclination
- to promote and generate membership for our local organizations and activities
- to celebrate Scottish heritage
- to invite non-Scots in the San Diego community to join in celebrating the heritage
Description
- Promoting the mission through support of various activities, largely those of our six member organizations:
House of Scotland
North County Scots
Robert Burns Club of San Diego
Saint Andrew Society of San Diego
San Diego-Edinburgh Sister City Society
San Diego Scottish Highland Games
- And, since 2004, San Diego Tartan Day has presented celebrations for the San Diego community on or near Tartan Day, April 6, a tradition that will continue with the 10th anniversary (11th annual) festival at the International Cottages, Balboa Park on Saturday, April 5, 2014.
