Description

The SHIP Medicare Volunteer assists Medicare Beneficiaries on Medicare related health insurance issues. Through one-on-one counseling and informal advocacy, SHIP volunteers support the independence of people making choices, which affect their health and financial well-being.

Nevada SHIP is a free service that assists seniors and the disabled with Medicare. They provide free detailed training and hold monthly meetings to keep volunteers informed of changes as well as other services seniors may benefit from. Volunteers can provide a variety of services such as taking telephone calls for appointments, counseling, appearing at health fairs and giving presentations to senior organizations. I have volunteered with SHIP for 4 years and have helped many seniors find a Medicare plan that works for them. It's quite gratifying when I can help them find a plan that saves them money as most seniors are on a very limited income.
