Mission Statement

Last Chance Rescue was founded in order to save animals that would have otherwise been destroyed at area shelters, giving them a chance at a good loving home.

Description

All animals deserve the right to a happy, healthy environment. Last Chance Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization committed to saving the lives of animals that otherwise would be destroyed.

Adoptions take place at several locations. We have a kennel in Cohoctah, MI which is open on Wed. from 6pm to 9pm and Sat. by appointment only. We also have a Flint branch of our rescue where most of the animals are in foster homes. Flint has open adoptions every Saturday at the Flint and Grand Blanc PetSmart stores from 12 - 4pm and Sundays, 1 - 4 pm (for cats only).

Both branches of the rescue have various "special" adoption events & fundraisers with special themes throughout the year including Easter Bunny & Santa Pet Photos, Rummage/Bake sales, and various pet expos and adopt-a-thons. We also are a member of a coalition of animal rescue groups that put on a lot of adoption events in which we all contribute and work together to get animals from all the different groups a chance at new homes.

Volunteers are a vital part of our group and they are desperately needed as more and more animals are seeking our help because the shelters are destroying animals due to overcrowding. We can only answer their cries for help and give them another chance at life with support from our generous volunteers!

Volunteers are always needed in many different capacities: helping out at the Beatty Farm which is the Flint area's headquarters, working with the animals at the shelter (Howell), fostering animals while a permanent home is sought, helping with adoptions on Sat. or Sun., 12-4pm, at PetSmart, cleaning cat cages during week at PetSmart, transporting animals to adoption events, food pick-up & distribution, fundraising, promoting, literature distribution. We sincerely appreciate groups like the Girl Scouts, 4H clubs, and school & church groups who help us with fundraisers and hands-on help with our animals whenever they offer.

Last Chance Rescue gets most of their animals from the county's animal control, aka "the pound" and often just before they are about to be euthanized due to overcrowding. Last Chance Rescue only adopts out pets that are spayed or neutered, and they don't usually come to us that way, which means that much of the cost of one of our pets goes towards spaying or neutering fees as well as basic medical care. We also have each animal's routine shots updated so that they are healthy when adopted. Some have special needs that may incur a high vet bill, but if it means giving them a chance at a better life, we do what we can to give them that chance. That is also why monetary donations are so graciously accepted along with other items like pet food & supplies.

"Help us, help them" ...If anyone is interested in volunteering or doing a fundraiser for the rescue, please contact us with your offer of help. The animals will be eternally grateful, and so will we!

Can't say. I have tried to contact them several times, by phone and email and no return calls or email reply. I really would had like to work with this organization, but I guess they really don't need the help.
