Mission Statement

The mission of NovaRNG is to assist the refugees and immigrants to the northern Virginia area in adapting to American culture and to our communities. We believe that the most effective way to do this is to help them to organize their own self-help support networks. We envision this network as a temporary bridge to substitute for the institutions that would have provided those functions of guidance and mentorship in their own native country.

Description

NovaRNG is a very small nonprofit that is experimenting with the internet as a means to disseminate information to the refugee/immigrant communities in northern Virginia.

Our first experiment is a narrated slide show on our website that runs in the Adobe Flash Player. This slide show is about driving training and is designed to help refugees/immigrants obtain their learners driving permits and to help them before safer drivers. The narration of this experiment is in Farsi, the language of Iran and Afghanistan. We would like to expand this experiment to other languages and to expand the content so that it will be more applicable to other parts of the US.
