Mission Statement
Horizons at Greens Farms Academy (GFA) helps underserved Bridgeport public school students in grades PreK-12 improve their educational outcomes by providing academic instruction, enrichment opportunities, mentoring and educational guidance in a nurturing community of dedicated professionals.
Description
Horizons at GFA serves 205 PreK-12 students from Bridgeprot, CT. Many of our students are the only English-speaking member of their family, and most will be the first in their family to attend college. Our students represent all levels of achievement, with a focus on academically at-need students. Approximately two thirds of incoming students are performing at or below grade level, and one third above grade level. Demographically, 49% of our students are Latino, 42% are African American and 50% of our students are females. The average annual income for incoming families is $22,000.
Horizons at GFA operates its PreK-8 program for six weeks over the summer and on Saturdays during the school year. Our high school program consists of weekly academic coaching and two weeks of college preparation classes in the summer.
