Mission Statement

The Kaleidoscope Project exists to enlist caring adults into the lives of local at-risk children through school-based enrichment, tutoring and mentoring programs and in so doing empowers the next generation one child at a time.

Description

The Kaleidoscope Project began in March 2009 as part of Christ’s Church of the Valley’s desire to impact the lives of at-risk children in their community. In that time, the Kaleidoscope Project has grown to serve on average one hundred and fifty children at two local schools. We have developed partnerships with Azusa Pacific University, Covina High School, Traweek Middle School, Southlands Christian School and La Verne University. We look forward to partnering with other organizations in hopes of reaching every school in the San Gabriel Valley.

Our work focuses on tutoring, mentoring and enrichment activities - drama, soccer, basketball, art and dance. Our caring volunteers daily facilitate these quality activities for children immediately following the end of the school day. Our work is school-based, so no time is lost in transportation and we are easily able to collaborate with school staff.
