Mission Statement

The Grand Theater Foundation exists:

To provide arts, entertainment, and social interaction through a wide variety of programs for personal enrichment, enjoyment, and a sense of community.

To preserve the last historic movie place in Knoxville as a home for film, performing arts, and a venue for touring performers and community events.

Description

The goal of our organization is to raise $500,000 to totally renovate, modernize, and reopen the historic Grand Theater on the Knoxville, Iowa Square.

The Theater was originally built to host both live performances and motion pictures, so we'll be taking the facility back to its roots. We'll also be reviving some of the architectural history when we strip to current facade down to its original brick, and reinstall the large 'GRAND' neon signage over the existing marquee.
