SARA provides free counseling and support services for women, children of all ages, and men who have experienced sexual assault and/or abuse. . Counseling provides a safe, supportive place for survivors to talk. It is an time for survivors to share thier feelings and thoughts about the assault or abuse and how it impacts their lives.. As a team, the counselor and client work together to make sense out of what is happening and to find ways to help the client create change.
SARA seeks both men and women to be trained as Certified Sexual Assault Advocates, Child Assault Prevention facilitors, or to assist with community outreach and education programming. . Sexual Assault Advocates provide crisis intervention and support through staffing our 24 hour hotline. Volunteers are also on call to go to the Emergency Room with a survivor of a sexual assault if they would like support through the medical procedures.
