Mission Statement

Philbrook is the premier cultural institution in the city of Tulsa and a state-wide leader in the cultural life of Oklahoma. It is distinguished by nationally recognized facilities, gardens and exhibitions, quality collections, and innovative educational programming. Set within a twenty-five acre site three miles from downtown Tulsa, Philbrook is a unique combination of historic house, immaculate gardens, and permanent collections. Mission Statement: Philbrook strives to make a creative and connected community through art and gardens.

Philbrook Purose Statement
Learning & Creativity- We regard learning, creativity, and the investigation of ideas as a vital, life-long pursuit. We advocate for inquiry debate, play, and experimentation in all our activities, programs and practices.
Health & Well being- We believe art, culture, and nature are essential to the physical and emotional well being of our community. therefore we create and support opportunities for relaxation, inspiration, reflection, exercise, and fun.
Relevance & Social Responsibility- We embrace our roles as responsive civic leaders to inspire dialogue and positive change; promote broader awareness of diverse ideas, cultures, and perspectives; champion social justice; an be relevant and welcoming to all.
Sustainability & Stewardship- We strive to employ sustainable practices to preserve our collection, campus, and environment for future generations. Likewise, we exercise fiscal responsibility to ensure short and long term viability to sustain and maximize our impact in the community.
Leadership & Innovation- We support and encourage a culture or experimentation, collaboration, and transparency as we shape the future of museums.
