Mission Statement

The mission of Strategic Human Services (SHS) is to improve the overall quality of life of North Lawndale and neighboring communities and to benevolently serve individuals, families, and organizations by providing an information and networking resource and related services that aid in the technical, social, economic, and spiritual advancement of North Lawndale.

Description

SHS has produced several services with that aim in mind and is in the process of producing several others. The first product and service was the North Lawndale Community News (NLCN). It has a circulation of 10,000 and a readership of approximately 30,000. It primarily serves the North Lawndale Community and by extension, it serves West Garfield, Austin, South Lawndale, Midwest and other surrounding communities.

Educational services produced and provided by SHS include the following workshops and classes: journalism, website design, desktop publishing, basic computer, marketing representative training for individuals desiring to acquire advertising for NLCN and their own enterprises, marketing seminars for business and non-profit organizations, and cable access network (CAN) TV video production training.
