Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Palm Beach County Amateur Radio Emergency Service & Radio Amateur Emergency Service are the Primary back up for Palm Beach County communications in the event of an emergency.
Palm Beach County ARES/RACES: Amateur Radio Emergency Service & Radio Amateur Emergency Service co-exist as volunteer emergency communications services for the County depending on whether the disaster is officially declared. We focus on Amateur (Ham) Radio, Emergency Management, Communications and Community Service. We are the Primary back up for Palm Beach County communications in the event of an emergency. We also perform, free of charge, communications for Public Service Events, such as: walk-a-thons, bike-a-thons, parades and fund-raising events. ARES & RACES support the other Amateur Radio clubs in the County in holding beginner's classes, meetings and public service events. Please contact us if you would like to become a "Ham" or you already are one.
