Mission Statement

Living Free is a non-profit, no-kill animal sanctuary that saves and finds qualified homes for orphaned and abused cats and dogs facing imminent shelter euthanasia.

Description

The Living Free property is situated upon 153 acres. The property was privately purchased by Emily Jo Beard in 1980 for the purpose of creating a non-proft animal sanctuary for Cats, Dogs, Burros and Horses. Today that vision is still alive with the animal population now comprised of companion Cats and Dogs.

Living Free was created as a rescue and adoption facility to help orphaned and abandoned animals. The unwanted ones have no one, so we intervene on their behalf whenever possible. We are not a shelter nor a pound. We receive no financial support from the city, state or federal agencies but only from private citizens who also share a love for animals.

We are a Give-life sanctuary, which means no animal is euthanized unless there is an extreme medical reason to do so. A saved Cat or Dog will live its life here with dignity until adopted or forever if not adopted.
