To educate about shells and mollusks, the shell-makers, through exhibits, educational programs, library services and publications; To further awareness of nature and the natural environment; To promote collection-based research on shells and mollusks with an emphasis on Southwest Florida and the Gulf of Mexico.

Description

Exhibits in The Great Hall of Shells illustrate the role shells have played in ecology, medicine, literature, religion, art, architecture, and as a source of food.

Video programs inform visitors about the lives of mollusks, their habits and habitats.

The Museum Store offers shell-motif items from children's books to jewelry and furniture.
