Mission Statement
Serving Central Ohio, Respite Connections, Inc. provides quality temporary care services for individuals with special needs. We provide short-term (0-14 days) care for special needs youth & adults in order to offer support, strengthen families, and provide a loving and constructive environment for them. This temporary relief for caregivers provides the foundation for support that is critical to family stability and growth.
Description
Over the years, Respite Connections expanded our vision and services to provide a continuum of community-based therapeutic services to individuals with special needs in hope to enhance their quality of life, assist them in meeting their fullest potential and enable them to develop healthy relationships. In 2002, we established Camp SOS for kids who needed a very specialized summer camp program due to their special needs. We then added home-base services to help parents increase their own parenting and life management skills. As our clients grew older, our need to expand our services into transitional and supportive living options became more obvious. In 2007, we began providing services to young adults with serious mental health and developmental disabilities in supporting them in their own homes. We also established an Adult Day Services program called Deaf Day Services. In October 2010, Alternative Day Services was added to provide day programming for young, hearing adults who had more serious behavioral and mental health issues as well. Our summer program changed its name to KIDS KAMP and our after school program was started in 2010. The success and expansion of our programs allowed Respite Connections to obtain the means to purchase our own building in the summer of 2010. We currently are working on becoming accredited to provide mental health services to individuals with both developmental disabilities and mental health needs. With the support of great staff, our community and our Board of Directors, our agency continues to fulfill our mission and provide quality services to members of our central Ohio community.
Respite Connections provides a continuum of treatment services including:
Respite Care Services to help prevent abuse, neglect and out of home placement
Kids Kamp Programming for 6-22 years olds during summer and school holiday breaks
Supportive Living for individuals with developmental disabilities
Deaf Day Services for deaf adults with DD and MH issues
Alternative Day Services for young adults with special needs
Intensive Home-Based Services to improve family stability
Outpatient Mental Health Services for individuals with DD and MH, both deaf and hearing individuals
Case Management which provides coordinating of services and assistance in accessing community resources
