Mission Statement

Blue Mountain Heart to Heart is committed to preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS through educational programs, syringe exchange and direct client contact. We provide support services to clients living with HIV/AIDS, collaborating with area agencies to effectively serve these clients and prevent the transmission of HIV. Heart to Heart attempts to heighten public awareness and dispel myths surrounding HIV/AIDS and its transmission through educational outreach programs. Lastly, we are committed to providing prevention and case management services for the growing Spanish-speaking population in our valley, an often overlooked and underserved community.

Description

In 1991, Heart to Heart was conceived by a task force of health care professionals, social service agencies and concerned individuals who came together to provide a response to the earliest cases of HIV/AIDS diagnosed in the Walla Walla valley. It was initially envisioned as a clearinghouse for information and support services for HIV/AIDS patients that were not provided through other agencies in the region.

Today, Heart to Heart is a leader in HIV/AIDS education and prevention, and is the primary provider of HIV/AIDS support services in Walla Walla and Columbia Counties. It is defined as a private, non-profit organization that provides case management services to people living with HIV/AIDS and works to prevent transmission of the virus in our community.
