Mission Statement

Founded in 1966, the National Psoriasis Foundation is the world's leading charitable funder of psoriatic disease research, and the nation’s leading patient advocacy organization. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees.

The mission of the organization is to find a cure for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and to eliminate their devastating effects through research, advocacy and education.

Description

To fulfill this mission, the National Psoriasis Foundation funds research, advocates for improved patient access to care, and provides information and other services to people with psoriatic disease, their families, health care professionals, and the public.The goal of the Chicago Division is to implement the mission of the National Psoriasis Foundation through various fundraisers and educational and advocacy events to build awareness about psoriatic disease throughout the Chicago community.

There are as many as 7.5 million Americans who have psoriasis of which 335,440 live in Illinois. It is the most prevalent of all autoimmune diseases.
