Mission Statement

Casa Milagro is proud to offer safe, affordable, accessible housing. All SSI recipients are able to be self supporting. With a deep commitment to providing an inclusive, harmonious home, that honors the contributions of each and all, we welcome extended family participation and community involvement.

Description

Casa Milagro is a 12 member therapeutic community of artists with co-occuring mental illnesses. We are situated in the Sangre de Cristo mountains with beautiful views and fabulous gardens. The supportive services provided at Casa Milagro are holistic in nature to focus on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness. While emphasizing diversity and individual strengths of each resident, we encourage the spirit of a self-sustaining community. Casa Milagro members communicate openly, peacefully, and with complete respect for one another. We develop loving and caring relationships with each other that are integral to the workings of the community and to our personal growth and healing. We find involvement with nature important to our wellbeing. We work together on a xeriscaped garden, build compost, and have cherished relationships with our companion animals. As literary artists, visual artists, intellectuals and craftspeople, expression is central to our ways of life. Daily life at Casa Milagro involves playing with and caring for companion animals, gardening, creating multimedia art projects, attending college courses, meeting with counselors, cooking house meals, meditating, taking yoga classes, and hanging out with Casa Milagro community members.
