Mission Statement
Mission: To improve the quality of life for Africa's most vulnerable children, women and communities by partnering with them to learn how to help themselves and others.
The Ark Foundation bases its programs on the UN Convention for the Rights of Children (CRC). ARK promotes and advocates for the rights of underprivileged, particularly orphaned children in Africa. Our programs are holistic, not limited by time, expertise or money. Programs are performance based and mission driven with a lifetime commitment to help children help themselves and others in their own communities.
Description
ARK's priority is to strengthen African families made vulnerable by extreme poverty and others affected by HIV/AIDS through the provision of comprehensive programs designed to build communities from inside out by working directly with those individuals affected by these conditions. ARK also provides technical expertise and training to local indigenous organizations and also to international organizations working in Africa. ARK recruits volunteers who travel to Africa to work side by side with our local staff and or volunteers. Volunteers are also needed to assist in several other ways in the US. ARK program priority areas:
o Health & Nutrition
o Parenting Challenges especially grandparents and caretakers of AIDS orphans
o Advocacy
