Mission Statement

Since the founding of A Better Chance in 1963, our mission has rested on a single goal: to substantially increase the number of well-educated minority youth capable of assuming positions of responsibility and leadership in American society. A Better Chance works with students of color in sixth grade through college to help them gain access to broader educational and career opportunities.

Description

A Better Chance is the preeminent national resource for recruiting, identifying and developing leaders among young people of color. Through a unique assessment model, A Better Chance refers academically talented students of color to some of the nation's finest independent private and public schools across the nation for placement and financial aid. Students who are successfully placed become part of the signature College Preparatory Schools Program and receive access to broader educational and career opportunities.
