Mission Statement

Children of Uganda's mission is to empower and support AIDS-related orphans and vulnerable children to lead healthy and successful lives.

Description

Orphaned during infancy, many of the children sponsored by the Children of Uganda (COU) have no memory of their parents. Speak with these children, and they will tell you a far different story than one of loss and sadness.

They will tell you that they are among the privileged ones in Uganda - where 1.7 million children have lost one or both parents to AIDS - because they are being educated and empowered to think optimistically about their future.

Uganda's most vulnerable population - vulnerable because of the exploding orphan population and the fact that education is not free for any child - obviously has enormous needs.

The Children of Uganda has long recognized these needs and is helping to address them by directly supporting hundreds of AIDS-related orphans, conducting an outreach program to HIV-positive mothers, and working with organizations in Uganda and the United States to raise awareness of the crisis.

We currently have more than 750 children in our care and support them with food, shelter, education, clothing and medicine.
