Description

Habitat for Humanity South Africa is a non-profit, non-governmental Christian housing organization dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing in South Africa. By joining and collaborating with communities, Habitat builds simple, decent, affordable houses for those who lack adequate shelter.

Thus far more than 1500 houses have been built by Habitat, providing shelter for 7500 people across the country all of which was made possible by the financial help of local corporate companies. By the end of 2006 Habitat aims to have built another 1000 houses in fifty communities countrywide with over 50 000 volunteers. In this way, Habitat is about more than building a house. It is about establishing a home for a family, transforming a community and building a nation.

The International Student Build (ISB) runs in accordance with Habitat for Humanity. It is a build that runs for a week involving students from around the world all coming together with a common goal, a goal to work together in breaking down boundaries and building a decent home in partnership with new home owners. This build runs from 20th-27th June 2007 and we are aiming to build 10 houses.
