AND RECOGNIZING that while food banks will be needed in the foreseeable future, that they are only a temporary response for those living in poverty.

THE MISSION of the Red Deer Food Bank Society is to meet the immediate food requirements of the people in need in Red Deer and surrounding area, while working toward long term solutions to hunger and poverty

Description

The Red Deer Food Bank is a warehouse depot for 18 surrounding food banks and over 30 non- profit agencies in Red Deer.

The Food Bank does a variety of special events to raise funds throughout the year. These events are varied form BBQ’ s throughout the year and to Stuff A Bus and Craft Fairs. We also have Operation Food Lift, Hot air balloon events and numerous other events going on. Our volunteers play an important part in making this all happen.

We give out approximately 400 hampers a month to individuals and families who meet our guidelines. In 2006 we gave out nearly 5,000 hampers; over 7,000 adults and nearly 4500 children were assisted.

The Red Deer Food Bank is open Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 11:45 AM and from 1 PM to 5 PM. We are closed for most holidays.
