Mission Statement

It is the mission of Community Based Care of Central Florida that all families in Central Florida are able to safely care for their children by engaging, protecting and inspiring every child, every day. We accomplish this mission by developing and managing a comprehensive, coordinated, community-based system of care for abused, neglected and abandoned children and their families.

Description

CBC of Central Florida is a non-profit agency charged with developing community-based services and supports for children and families served by the child welfare system in Central Florida. A core value is the belief that all children have the inalienable right to grow up safe, healthy and fulfilled in families that love and nurture them.

We have been committed to serving the children and families of Central Florida who have been victims of, or at risk of, abuse, neglect or abandonment since 2004. Community Based Care is Florida's child welfare initiative that transfers public child welfare services to the private sector. In response to this initiative, a group of local providers came together to develop a community-based "lead agency" that combines compassion and innovation with flexibility. The result is CBC of Central Florida.

Our ongoing goal includes providing the necessary services to the more than 3,000 children we serve by strengthening the relationships between our families, foster parents, case management team and network of local service providers who deliver a multitude of direct services to children.

Mentoring youth in foster care is the single most powerful, inspiring, and life-changing volunteer experience you can find. Embracing these children at such a pivotal time broadens the landscape of opportunity for their entire lives. You have the power to lift these children up and inspire them to create the best version of themselves. Become a mentor and you may find that one of the lives you change is your own!

Community Based Care really does strive to help all of its foster children, youth, and young adults, whether through fundraising or donation drives. I think it's amazing that so many people from CBC truly care and do their best to make the lives of foster children better in one way or another. I recently volunteered to setup for their Christmas Extravaganza. I was amazed at the professionalism and courtesy that was present in each staff member and other volunteers. Everyone worked together seamlessly. I encourage everyone who can to volunteer their time. It's also a great way to teach children and teenagers about being grateful for what they have. This is a great organization to volunteer your time. Everyone is, and will be, very grateful for anything you can do to help them.
