Mission Statement

Camden Center for Youth Development, Inc. (CCYD) is dedicated to embracing and using the assets of young people to meet their needs and to successfully address the complex work they must do to transform their communities and neighborhoods. CCYD will achieve this mission by providing young people with youth leadership development, academics, job/vocational skills development and by providing emotional, social, spiritual, physical and cultural proficiencies. CCYD also has an agenda to increase the capacity of youth serving organizations.

Description

Located in Camden, NJ - the poorest city in America - CCYD is a private, non-profit, community based organization. We offer high school education in an alternative school setting for various students referred to us by Child Study Teams, DYFS and the Juvenile Justice System. In addition, we offer after-school programs for youth and their families. The Camden City Youth Services Commission, a division of CCYD, is a consortium of youth serving organizations in Camden City, who collectively meet to work on data collection and analysis; outreach, media and communication; legislative policy and systems changes regarding youth issues. CCYD offers small grants to youth serving organizations, along with a highly-regarded system of technical assistance and training to those organizations.
