Mission Statement

The Environmental Investment Organisation (EIO) is an independent not-for-profit research network promoting carbon transparency and investment solutions designed to address climate change.

The EIO has become the first and only organisation in the world to create a public set of Carbon Rankings each year. The Rankings are designed specially to drive lower emissions and encourage greater transparency.

The Rankings have received international media attention and have already begun encouraging more companies to make their emissions data public. They also lay the foundations for the subsequent stage of the project, which will see the rankings translated into a series of financial indexes. These indexes are designed to offer the investment community a mainstream investment product capable of applying pressure to company share price in line with emissions and transparency.

PROJECT ONE PERCENT

Project One Percent is a global movement of people championing a practical solution to the climate crisis.

More specifically, we are calling on the largest financial institutions in the world - the people who look after our money for us - to move 1% of their [our] funds into a market mechanism calledEnvironmental Tracking. This market mechanism is designed to drive greater corporate transparency and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Why? In the absence of concerted global government action or massive shifts in consumer behaviour, we believe we need to harness the power of the financial system to bring about a smooth and speedy transition to a low carbon economy.
