As a volunteer with LINC you will help low-income seniors sustain their physical and mental health while preventing social isolation and depression within this vulnerable population. Seniors living on fixed incomes are often forced to choose between paying for housing or nutritious foods, medication and participating in healthy activities. Health & Wellbeing Volunteers at LINC Cares address these issues by providing supportive programs that improve seniors’ quality of life and promote their ability to live independently. Volunteers coordinate the following activities: Exercise - leading stretching classes, walking groups, and other physically engaging programs Nutrition - demonstrating healthy recipes while providing educational workshops Community engagement - coordinating activities that include: Special holiday celebrations Arts & crafts Cognitive and socially active games (e.g., bingo and Wii) Computer labs - providing 1-to-1 instruction on basic computer skills and functions And more... Health & Wellbeing Volunteers are trained according to LINC Cares program models to coordinate their own assigned activities. Responsibilities include: outreach, preparation, setting up and cleaning program space, facilitating activities, ensuring the safety of participants, and communicating with property management and resident service staff. As a Food Bank volunteer with LINC Cares you will help low-income residents obtain extra food and supplies that are much needed in their households. Food Bank Volunteers at LINC Cares help the community by providing assistance with packaging and distributing the goods at the bi-weekly food bank. This helps improve low-income residents quality of life and promote their ability to live independently. The food bank occurs every 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM Learn new skills and have fun, all while improving the health of our community _________________________________________________________________________ How to Enroll: To qualify as a Food Bank Volunteer, applicants must be at least 16 years of age and submit to a background verification. COVID-19 POLICY Effective March 23rd, 2022, all Linc Housing volunteers must either be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or be granted a religious or medical accommodation by Linc Housing HR staff. You will be connected with Linc HR staff to either provide proof of vaccination status or complete our COVID policy exemption process prior to your 1st day of service. Youth Education Volunteers at LINC Cares serve at after-school programs and summer clubs that provide fun recreational activities, support strong educational habits, and promote good health and positive social development for children in our communities. Responsibilities include: Providing homework support and 1-to-1 tutoring Organizing recreational, computer, and arts & crafts activities Promoting positive social development Mentoring and being a positive role model Setting up & cleaning up of facility Youth education services take place directly at LINC Housing apartments inside LINC Cares community centers. Our staff and volunteers’ primary goal is to keep kids safe by creating an environment that fosters learning and creativity---free of charge to those most in need.
