Mission Statement

Caring for children and young adults in crisis for almost a decade, the Ana Luisa Garcia Community Center works with those most vulnerable to overcome the devastating impact of poverty, neglect, abuse, and developmental or mental challenges, as they strive for a brighter, more independent future. A nonprofit agency, the Ana Luisa Garcia Community Center strengthens the foundation of families in need throughout the New York metropolitan area. Offering a continuum of care, the Ana Luisa Garcia Community Center meets the unique needs of each individual through our broad array of leading and innovative community based programs.

Description

The Ana Luisa Garcia Community Center was established in 2007 by Board members of fraternal organizations who believed there was an urgent, unmet need for sports, arts, and educational activities in city public schools after regular class hours.

Our mission is to help bridge the academic performance gap among under-achieving students by extending the public school day with wholesome, skill-building activities designed to improve New York City children’s academic performance, health and wellness, attitude towards school, self-esteem, character and values, and opportunity for life-long employment.
