Mission Statement

To promote the participation and independence of individuals of all ages with disabilities in school, work, play, and other everyday activities through their use of assistive technology.

Description

The Technology Access Center provides technology resources and opportunities to redefine human potential by making technology a regular part of the lives of children and adults who have disabilities or functional limitations. They discover and choose technology solutions, find resources to acquire needed technology, and learn how to use it to meet their needs in daily life. The focus areas at the Center are assistive technologies which help people to learn, communicate, carry out activities of daily living, control their environment, and work. Children with physical limitations can benefit from assistive technology beginning at a very young age with adapted toys and communication systems to develop language skills. Adapted computers are helping older children and adults with visual and physical impairments to excel at school and work.
