Description

We are the first community-scale, permitted, urine recycing project in the US. With 170 volunteers, we collected, transported, sanitized and applied urine to a hay field for research studies. We collected 3,000 gallons in 2013.

In 2014, we received a grant from the EPA with the University of Michigan and Buffalo University to study the path of pharmaceuticals in urine through the food-nutrient cycle. This a two-year study and requires collecting urine from many people (individual households, in urine-diverting porta potties at special events, etc.) and scientific evaluation at each stage.
