Description

The Idaho Bird Observatory is a non-profit, university-based academic research program which conducts long-term monitoring and research of western migratory landbirds. We conduct a yearly monitoring program on the Boise Ridge, located near the city of Boise, which is designed to learn more about migratory landbirds by studying them during autumn migration. This site is recognized as an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society for its international significance to migratory birds. Thousands of birds are concentrated at this location during their southward migration, including songbirds and raptors. We have taken advantage of this incredible natural resource by establishing long-term research and monitoring programs, and by conducting extensive public education.
