To provide a high quality public interest environmental law service, accessible to the public, that contributes significantly to the protection and enhancement of the environment.
The Environmental Defenders Office of Northern Queensland (EDO NQ) is a non-profit, non-government community legal centre specialising in public interest environmental law. We provide advice to members of the public about environmental law issues. The Environmental Defenders Office of Northern Queensland (EDO NQ) is part of the Australian Network of Environmental Defenders Offices Inc (ANEDO), which consists of nine independently constituted and managed community environmental law centres located in each State and Territory of Australia. Each EDO is dedicated to protecting the environment in the public interest. We provide legal representation and advice, take an active role in environmental law reform and policy formulation, and offer a significant education program designed to facilitate public participation in environmental decision making. EDO NQ services well over 1,000,000 square km of onshore and offshore Australia, including the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics.
