Mission Statement

To educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of healthy living and self-respect.

Description

The GOTR curriculum is specifically designed to address aspects of all of these problems, and our rigorous academic evaluation indicates that we are consistently successful in achieving our objectives. These objectives are to reduce the incidence of risky adolescent behaviors including drug & alcohol use, eating disorders, and early sexual activities; reduce the incidence of adolescent obesity; and to offer positive healthy role models. This is aimed at ALL girls, ages eight to fourteen, regardless of race, class, ethnicity, or physical ability.

Adult, female volunteers serve as role models and coaches as they lead the 12-week, 24-lesson curricula, each fall and spring. Upon completion, girls and their coaches participate together in a 5K run/walk event.
