Mission Statement

The mission of AMCAB is to support families and individuals in improving their quality of life.

Description

AMCAB provides a wide variety of human services. Our programs address early childhood education, housing, senior nutrition and community outreach. AMCAB provides several preschool programs in Alger and Marquette counties in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The programs include: Head Start, Early Head Start and Childcare Partnerships. Our housing services include two affordable housing developments, home weatherization, and the Alger County Home Rehabilitation Program. AMCAB administers two types of Senior Nutrition Programs: Congregate meals for those seniors who are able to leave their homes and home delivered meals, also known as Meals-on-Wheels. For the Commodity foods program, AMCAB distributes a monthly 40 pound box of healthy and well balanced foods to over 1000 low-income elderly and families with children under age six. Our Outreach Workers provide direct coordination and follow up to many programs provided by human service agencies in the area. They provide in home visits and one on on contact to better understand the needs of individual families.
