Mission Statement

Powell Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), all volunteer, foster home based canine rescue organization dedicated to saving homeless dogs from neglect, mis-treatment, and unnecessary euthanasia. We are committed to reducing overpopulation, providing education about dog safety and appropriate veterinary care, addressing behavioral issues, and securing permanent, nurturing, adoptive homes within central Ohio for the dogs we rescue. Our mission is to alleviate the needless suffering and killing of adoptable canine companions - one dog, one adopter at a time.

Description

PAWS foster volunteers welcome the dogs we rescue in to their homes as members of their own families, providing a safe, comfortable, nurturing place to live. PAWS provides food and comprehensive veterinary care, including a complete physical examination, diagnostics and treatment of existing conditions, tests for heartworm and parasites, vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchiping, and monthly heartworm and flea & tick preventative. Our dedicated fosters provide plenty of exercise, socialization, playtime, structure, and affection until we are able to match each dog up with great people wanting to adopt them, providing a permanent home and high quality of life each dog deserves.

I rescued a dog from this organization. They were professional and a joy to work with. I learned a lot from them and will be forever indebted to them for rescuing my dog.
