The Civil Air Patrol has been providing emergency services for over 50 years. This is a great opportunity to learn new skills, and to make a difference. There is something for everyone to learn to do. The myriad of jobs and roles are not limited to only aviation, so if your not familiar with aviation, your not alone. I have found that members are all gregarious, and always willing to make themselves available as a mentor. Since I have joined, I have learned many neat and applicable tips and skills. I only regret not having joined earlier!
Squadron 150 is a fantastic group of professionals who want to give back to their communities through their aviation skills, search and rescue training, cadet services, and aerospace education. I recommend everyone come and check it out! Pilots and non pilots are welcome along with photographers.

This organization serves a good purpose. It is one of those organizations that you have to pay yearly membership fees, one fee to the local squadron and one fee to national HQ, to become and remain a member. There is also the cost for required uniforms and equipment if you wish to participate and be active. Civil Air Patrol started off with a good mission but is struggling to find direction with very few rescues or resources in our oversaturated SAR community in So Cal.
