Mission Statement

To break a world record and raise funds for children in unfortunate situations while doing so.

Description

In 2010, PictureTheWorld was founded as a fundraising platform directed towards serving children around the world.

The concept behind PictureTheWorld is to provide a photo-mosaic composition, wherein individual participants from across the country submit one or more source images to be used in compiling an overall photo-mosaic image--what will, with enough participation, become the world’s largest photo mosaic. Currently, the world’s largest photo mosaic is composed using 112,896 photos; accordingly, PictureTheWorld’s goal is to receive at least 112,897 photos.

Each time a photo is submitted through the organization’s website, www.ptwonline.org, the participant is asked to donate a minimum of $5, and their photo becomes a part of the organization’s efforts to claim the world’s largest photo mosaic. The record-setting final composition will be printed onto large sections of canvas, and constructed at a location that has yet to be determined.

All collected funds will go towards ten different beneficiaries, including UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, United Nations World Food Program, Doctors Without Borders, Kids In Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.), and Central Asia Institute.
