To reduce community violence by forging public-private partnerships that advance economic opportunities and empowers at-risk communities
A Better LA was founded in 2003 by USC football coach Pete Carroll to reduce the cycle of gang violence in Los Angeles by changing communities from within. In its 10th year, the organization partners with existing community organizations that provide gang intervention by trained professionals, safe passage to school, after-school progrrams, job training for adults and other programs to keep kids safe and improve the conditions in at-risk communities.
