Description

Love the environment and want to serve your country? Why not do both as a Florida State Parks AmeriCorps member? At the Savannas Preserve State Park we are looking for two members; one to become our Environmental Educator and the other to be our Volunteer Outreach Manager. You will be working in the environment with other volunteers, students of all ages, boy and girl scouts, park staff, and the community to increase awareness about the environment better the park itself. Also Florida can have a very active hurricane season and you may be deployed with the other AmeriCorps members to perform hurricane relief. The Savannas Preserve State Park is the largest freshwater marsh in southeastern Florida with several plant species that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The park is 6,500 acres and has a 4,000 sq. ft. Education Center. You will be provided with numerous resources to preform your duties. Our program starts in January 2007, and ends in November 2007. During the 11 month contract period you will serve 1700 hours and receive a $990.90 monthly living allowance and upon completion of service you will receive a $4,725 educational award. But the opportunity to be out of doors and spend your time in some of the best state parks in the nation is priceless!
