For over 150 years, the Regional YMCA has been working to strengthen the western Connecticut community through the areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.
The Regional YMCA is the third largest Y in Connecticut. Our service area encompasses 22 inner-city, rural and suburban communities across northern Fairfield and lower Litchfield Counties in Connecticut and eastern Putnam County, New York.
The Y features fitness and swimming facilities in Brookfield and Danbury, art classes and extensive youth development programs at ESCAPE to the Arts in downtown Danbury, summer camps, and early education and before/after school care at our Children’s Centers in Bethel and Brookfield. Our 62 full-time and 326 part-time employees are dedicated to serving the 12,000 children, adults and seniors who utilize our programming each year.
Our Impact
The Y is more than just a gym and a pool. We take great pride that we are a place where families and friends of all ages and backgrounds can gather and build a sense of community. We offer over 40 different programs that address the most pressing needs of our community. We are also a leader in tackling the obesity epidemic and providing diabetes prevention programming and focus our childcare efforts of addressing the achievement gap and summer learning loss.
Our wellness programs are the starting point for healthier lifestyles. Our youth and education programs give children and teens a strong foundation to build a great future. Our ESCAPE center unlocks artistic talents and builds teens’ confidence and leadership skills. And our aquatics activities save lives and keep swimmers of all ages in the water.
