Our mission at Youth Oasis is to provide necessary resources and support services to at-risk youth ages 10-21 in order that they may transition to become successful citizens in our community.
Youth Oasis, dba Baton Rouge Alliance for Transitional Living, consists of three programs designed to assist youth in crisis.
Our emergency shelter is a 24-hour emergency facility for runaway, homeless and throwaway youth ages 10-17. We provide immediate shelter, food, clothing and counseling for youth with no where else to turn. We assist families in working through difficult issues in order that they remain intact.
Our transitional living program consumers, ages 16-21, with residential living, staff support, and direct connections to services in the Baton Rouge area. Our goal is to instill independent living skills in order that they become self-sufficient.
Safe Place, our outreach program, is a licensed National Safe Place program. Safe Place allows Youth Oasis to open its doors throughout the community through a network of Safe Place sites. These sites are made up of city/parish entities, social service organizations and community businesses. Designated Safe Place sites display the distinctive yellow-and-black sign, telling youth in the community that these are safe places to get free and confidential help. Safe Place conducts educational presentations in local schools and community forums to educate the youth, parents, and professionals in the community about available services.
