Good Samaritan Ministries is a tax exempt organization established in 1985 by Carbondale Interfaith Council to provide shelter, food, counseling, and

advocacy for homeless, near homeless, and transient individuals and families. We offer an emergency shelter, referral service and counseling, a transitional housing program, a food pantry, a soup kitchen and an emergency assistance program. Our undertaking is to help the homeless help themselves..

Description

Good Samaritan Emergency Shelter

The mission of the Good Samaritan Emergency Shelter shall be to provide

short-term housing, food, counseling, and other service to the homeless, transient, low income, individuals and families who have inadequate current resources for obtaining proper living arrangements consistent with their needs.

Good Samaritan Transitional Housing

The mission of the Good Samaritan Ministries Transitional House is to provide educational and rehabilitation services in a stable and healthy environment for men and women to gain life skills, education and mental health counseling needed to transition to living in the community and being financially responsible.

Good Samaritan Food Pantry

The mission of the Good Samaritan Food Pantry is to provide food to the hungry , who do not have resources of their own.

Good Samaritan Soup Kitchen

The mission of the Good Samaritan Soup Kitchen is to provide nutritionally balanced meals, three times daily, every day of the year to residents of our Emergency Shelter, and to people in the community who are hungry.

Good Samaritan Emergency Assistance

The mission of the Good Samaritan's Emergency Assistance is to provide help with rent and utility bills, and to provide traveler' s aid, in order to prevent people from becoming homeless.
