Mission Statement

Harwood serves youth, adults and artists from the diverse communities of New Mexico by initiating opportunities for people to enrich their lives by experiencing and/or creating visual, performing and literary arts. The art center provides studio, performance and gallery facilities and offers programs, events, lectures, classes and workshops for students and artists of all ages and skill levels. Escuela del Sol, through its Harwood Art Center, fosters community involvement, promotes the arts, encourages advocacy and provides opportunities for life-long learning.

Description

The Harwood Art Center is a community benefit organization dedicated to supporting the life-long discovery process through the arts. Harwood is a grassroots center in the truest sense. Our goals, which we achieve through direct services and programming, are to provide access to space and an audience for artists, top quality performances and exhibitions for our community and arts education for all. We are also integrally involved in community building efforts in our neighborhood and in the larger community in New Mexico.
