Planned Parenthood believes in the fundamental right of each individual, throughout the world, to manage her or his fertility regardless of the individual's income, marital status, age, national origin, or residence.

We believe that reproductive self-determination must be voluntary and preserve the individuals right to privacy.

We further believe that such self-determination will contribute to an enhancement of the quality of life, strong family relationships and population stability.

Description

Measure 43 is dangerous for Oregon teens. It would force physicians to send a certified letter by mail notifying parents before a young woman older than 15 could have an abortion. There is no exception for victims of rape or incest, and it pushes the most vulnerable teens AWAY from the care of trained professionals like nurses and counselors. If Measure 43 passes, it will be the first time EVER that an anti-choice will become law in Oregon- and it will open the floodgates to all kinds of attacks on choice here. We can't let that happen.
