Mission Statement
The mission of the MSUE 4H Youth Mentor program is to provide at-risk youth of macomb county with a one on one, professionally supported relationship with caring adult volunteers. The Program focuses on meeting youth's basic developmental needs through mentoring and life skills training. THis helps divert youth from costly levels of care and intervention.
Description
The mentor program serves youth aged 10-16, referred from the Department of Human Services and/or the Macomb Juvenile Court. Mentors meet with the youth for a minimum of one hour per week and a minimum of 6 months. Mentors commit to providing youth with one on one support and guidance. They initiate educational and recreational activities while helping youth achieve individual goals. Free trainng and support are provided. Mentors must submit to a criminal background and license record check.
