The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
The American Cancer Society office in Kennewick helps to achieve the organization's mission by working with community volunteers in the Columbia Basin as well as Eastern OR to raise much needed donations through fundraising events such as Relay For Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. These dollars go towards funding the Society's efforts to prevent cancer, save lives and diminish suffereing from cancer by funding groundbreaking research, providing education, advocacy and community services. There are many active services the American Cancer Society provides at the community level, such as Cancer Resource Centers set up in Cancer Treatment facilities and hospitals, lodging programs for cancer patients, and other programs such as Look Good...Feel Better for women going through cancer treatment.
