Cancer Bridges Light Up Gala, November 2024 Planning Committee About the Event | Cancer Bridges' annual Light Up Gala is a beacon of hope and support for those whose lives have been touched by cancer. This special event is dedicated to honoring our luminaries-individuals and organizations who have made a profound and lasting impact on Cancer Bridges and the cancer community. We celebrate their contributions through five distinguished award categories, each reflecting their commitment and dedication to our cause. The Gala also serves as a heartfelt tribute to the cancer journeys of our members, acknowledging the resilience and strength found in survivorship, the selflessness and dedication of caretakers, and the profound courage in facing grief. The Light Up Gala is more than just an event; it is a powerful statement of awareness and recognition for the vital programs and services that Cancer Bridges provides to our community. It underscores the importance of our work and the significant role we play in offering support to those impacted by cancer in our region. Throughout the evening, we share inspiring member stories and personal experiences, which are the highlight of the night. These narratives not only showcase the challenges and triumphs faced by our members but also illuminate the unwavering spirit of the Cancer Bridges community. This event is a testament to our collective strength and a celebration of the light we bring into each other's lives. The Light Up Gala is Cancer Bridges’ largest fundraiser, welcoming 350+ guests from businesses, regional medical centers, and supporters to bring awareness to Cancer Bridges and raise funds in support of our free programs and services. This year’s event will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at The Westin Pittsburgh. Planning Committee Responsibilities | What is a planning committee? The Light Up Gala planning committee will help plan and execute the event. Generally, the committee will weigh in on decisions pertaining to the event, where appropriate, as well as brainstorm ideas around event activities and logistics. Additionally, the committee will help generate excitement and spread the word about the event through various channels; market the event and help attract attendees; assist in recruiting volunteers; and help garner auction/raffle baskets and sponsorships. What can you expect as a planning committee member? · Regular committee meetings, schedule TBD. Committee meetings are not mandatory, but attendance is highly encouraged when possible to stay up-to-date on the event plans. · Help plan the Light Up Gala! As a committee member, we welcome your input and feedback about items such as additional event activities and fundraising; vendors and sponsors to approach; marketing and advertising ideas; raffle and auction prize packages; and more. · Spread the word about the Light Up Gala! We encourage you to reach out to your groups and networks. Make the ask to attend! · Help solicit raffle and auction prizes! The Light Up Gala is a fundraising event and the funds raised help Cancer Bridges cover costs associated with offering free programs and services to our members that are otherwise not covered by grant funding. Our fundraising events are instrumental in helping keep our programs free - for everyone! · Ask your employer, or those you know, to become an event sponsor! Just like the funds raised through raffle and auction activities, sponsorships and event underwriting help offset event expenses as well as support Cancer Bridges general operating expenses. We offer a wide variety of sponsorship levels and underwriting opportunities to meet any business budget. We are also happy to customize packages. · Volunteer at the event! We need hands and help on the day of the event during set-up, check-in, and as the event moves through the evening. We welcome you to join us if your schedule allows.
