Civil Air Patrol is the Auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Founded on December 1, 1941, we are an all-volunteer force comprised of people from every background and of all ages. Our three main missions, given to us by our U.S. Congressional charter, are Emergency Services, Cadet Programs, and Aerospace Education.

In addition, our Cadet Program aids youths from 12-20 years of age learn and experience some of the best opportunities available! These opportunities include extensive leadership training, scholarships, national activities such as flight academy, international exchanges, search and rescue schools, technical schools and courses, music academy, and more. We also aim to educate the public on matters of aerospace and aviation.

You don't need to be a pilot or a military member or veteran to join. Our membership is open to all U.S. citizens and residents from age 12 on upward. Our members wear the United States Air Force uniforms with our distinctive CAP insignia, and carry out missions essential to our civil defense and safety. We help build our local Oswego County community through a number of programs and initiatives.

There is room for people from all walks of life with all sorts of interest, from professionals in medical or legal fields to those with interest in radio communication, youth and education, public safety and more!

Membership benefits include eligibility for academic and flight scholarships, free training and education including courses with college credit, potential for expenses-paid travel abroad, potential automatic promotion to E-3 upon enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, the opportunity to learn to pilot an aircraft, invaluable leadership skills, resume building, and more.
