Mission Statement

Our Mission is to help American Indian people meet their immediate survival needs â food, water and shelter â while implementing and supporting programs designed to create opportunities for self-sufficiency and self-esteem, particularly for tribal youth.

Team Running Strong trains supporters to run a marathon and raise essential awareness and support for this mission.

Description

Team Running Strong was formed when our National Spokesperson, Olympic Gold Medalist and Marine Corps officer Billy Mills (Oglala Lakota) was chosen as the Offical Starter of the 2004 Marine Corps Marathon.

Did you know...?!

...1/3 or homes on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation do not have running water or electricity?

...suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for native youth ages 10-24?

...for healthcare, the federal government spends on American Indians half of what it spends on prisoners and far below what it spends on the average American?

...life expectancy on Pine Ridge is the lowest in the United States and diabetes afflicts about half of its population?

We know that these aren't just numbers. Real families are struggling to make life better. We all can, and do make a difference.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
